Please let Hector Noesi screw this game up for himself - Lineups & Preview
/I don't care about Hector Noesi's success as much as Jose Quintana's. I don't care as much about this game as the thrill of flipping a Clayton Kershaw perfecto into a Jose Abreu triumph, and I cannot possibly have my defensive expectation trashed by an outfield with Dayan Viciedo and Adam Dunn in it. There are no walls to break down tonight.
Do your worst, baseball!!
Hector Noesi is on a winding path to trying to stick as a rotational contributor. It's going to be a heinously long process, since when the Sox took him on, he couldn't miss bats, throw strikes, keep the ball down, or keep his delivery together multiple times through the order.
There were probably some other things wrong with him but I am not a scout and we're trying to keep things general. Through six starts, the numbers look pretty bad (4.50 ERA, .768 OPS against), but he's avoided getting shelled in four of the six, and and is actually coming off a stalwart night against the Indians where he whistled into the eighth inning before the universe got wise to him. In his brightest moments, he can throw strikes, multiple times through the order. It's been a decent start, but there'd be no one shocked if this is as far as he can take the dream.
Watching Noesi stumble around and better than feared is admittedly better than starting at how broken Erik Johnson is every week.
White Sox Lineup:
Adam Eaton – CF
Gordon Beckham – 2B
Jose Abreu -- 1B
Adam Dunn – LF
Alexei Ramirez -- SS
Conor Gillaspie -- 3B
Dayan Viciedo -- RF
Tyler Flowers -- C
Hector Noesi -- P
This defense. The outfield corners. Is Robin doubling down after last night's debacle or just trying to shift the attention away from the infield? On the other hand, Alejandro De Aza has actually dragged his numbers still lower in the last 10 games, hitting .130/.259/.217 over that span.
Los Angeles Dodgers Lineup:
Dee Gordon – 2B
Andre Ethier – CF
Yasiel Puig – RF
Hanley Ramirez – SS
Adrian Gonzalez – 1B
Matt Kemp -- LF
Chone Figgins – 3B
Drew Butera – C
Dan Haren -- P
The White Sox have stolen more bases than Dee Gordon (35 to 34), but Adam Eaton has been caught more in his 10 attempts (five), than Gordon has in his 37 (three).
