Oh, whatever: White Sox get obliterated in Oakland

Nick is always chiding me to write shorter and simpler recaps. If he had his way, we'd post: "Quintana was sharp, offense didn't help, Ventura's a dingus" and just update the links to the box score until someone complained.

But the reader, the customer deserves more for this game. They deserve more than "Carroll not sharp, offense didn't help, Ventura's a dingus" for this 11-0 late-night loss in Oakland that no one in their right mind watched all the way through. They deserve a wave of synonyms for painful aggressions acted upon them.

DEFENESTRATED: Magic Pixie Dream Spot Starter Scott Carroll fared decently well the first time through the order. The only run he allowed in the first three innings came when Dayan Viciedo busted out a route from Fantasia on a Brandon Moss fly ball to left and turned it into an RBI double. He then couldn't diffuse a crisis of a two-out Josh Reddick single in the fourth, and allowed three-straight men to reach and run to cross, and was for some reason allowed to complete a four-run fifth where he allowed four extra-base hits over the course of six batters. He allowed 11 hits and six runs in all. He has to command the zone to succeed. He was barely on speaking terms Tuesday.

BONKED: Oakland starter Drew Pomeranz, making his second start back from injury and limited to a pitch count and an innings limit, struck out eight--a career-high.

LEVELED: Oakland catchers--Derek Norris and John Jaso--both played and combined for five hits.  The White Sox had four.

THWOMPED: Marcus Semien led Sox players by seeing 21 pitches in his four plate appearances. They were all strikeouts. He batted lead-off. A large contingent of his family was in attendance.

NECKSLAPPED: Leury Garcia robbed Yoenis Cespedes of a two-run home run off Frank Francisco with a leaping catch at the wall in the sixth. The next pitch Francisco threw was a two-run Brandon Moss home run.

EXTRANEOUS STING: Moises Sierra went 0-3 with three strikeouts, played a goofy, disinterested and uncoordinated right field and continues to make Jordan Danks look like Curt Flood.

SINGED: Robin Ventura is looking to give Jose Abreu a day off Wednesday or Friday.
