There's got to be a morning after - Lineups & Preview 6/8
/Make us feel good again, Jose.
Well, hopefully this rings true. It would be a shame for the season to fly off the rails for a west coast game in mid-June that no one even stayed up or stayed in to watch.
Or as Nick points out, who cares what happens to this point? The damage had already been done to Chris Sale's arm with the 22 high-stress pitches thrown on to the end of his outing, and to that bat, with whatever Sale did to it. The season is a facade for development and maintenance of the Sox best assets, and there's no real use for the facade by October.
Jose Quintana's last outing was the most recent source of extreme White Sox misery. Amusingly, during last night's first inning, Ed Farmer compared "how Jose handled" his defense futzing things up behind him unfavorably to Sale. So, now Jose's got that going for him.
Quintana also is now equal with Sale's number of starts allowing more than three earned runs. He's done it just once in 12 starts.
White Sox Lineup:
Adam Eaton – CF
Gordon Beckham – 2B
Jose Abreu -- DH
Dayan Viciedo -- LF
Alexei Ramirez -- SS
Paul Konerko – 1B
Tyler Flowers -- C
Moises Sierra -- RF
Leury Garcia -- 3B
Jose Quintana, SP
This lineup is...not much. A left-handed starter neutralizes assets like Conor Gillaspie and Adam Dunn, and neither Paul Konerko nor Dayan Viciedo have been living up to their billing as platoon bats. Jose Abreu needs to hit five home runs. But really that should always be the standard.
Los Angeles Angels Lineup:
Howie Kendrick -- 2B
Mike Trout – CF
Albert Pujols – DH
David Freese – 3B
Josh Hamilton – LF
C.J. Cron – 1B
Erick Aybar -- SS
Chris Iannetta – C
Colin Cowgill -- 2B
C.J. Wilson, SP
Mike Trout is still in this lineup so....crap.
Where to Watch: Today’s game will be broadcast on WGN and Fox Sports West. 2:35 p.m. Central start time.
