I Think Maybe They'll Play Today - Game Preview & Lineups 6/11
/With an extra day of rest, both John Danks and Justin Verlander will assume their roles as pitchers from which you no longer know what to expect. On an unseasonably cool Chicago day that feels more like fall than June, who knows what to expect at all anymore anyway?
Justin Verlander’s last five starts have seen him allow run totals of 6, 3, 9, 5, and 5. Not a great stretch. And much has been made of his declining peripherals suggesting a different pitcher entirely toeing the rubber.
John Danks, a man that we’ve grown accustomed to expecting little from, has spent his last three starts going at least 7 innings and allowing a total of 3 runs in that span.
Whether Verlander is effective or not, he serves as a stopper in terms of keeping the bullpen from getting overworked. Expect him to stay on the mound with or without a piling of White Sox runs. With is preferred.
