Take One In Oakland, Please? - Game Preview & Lineups 5/14
/The White Sox's personal House of Horrors has proved to be just that, as they have dropped the first two of a three-game series against the Oakland Athletics, last night by a miserable 11-0 margin.
Or, ya know, the A's are just a much better team than the White Sox.
Either way, the White Sox will look to salvage the series finale and snap a four-game losing streak with Wednesday's afternoon tilt at O.co Coliseum.
Taking the bump for the White Sox is Andre Rienzo, who has been the anti-Quintana since joining the rotation by sporting a 3-0 record despite putting together less-than-spectacular results. Saying Rienzo hasn't been good would be fair, but he's limited damage enough to keep the White Sox in games, which is something that, say, Scott Carroll can't claim of late.
He's averaging three walks in less than 5 innings per start, but has yet to allow more than four earned runs in any of his four starts to date. But we all know his K/BB ratio of 13:12 doesn't bode well for future results.
On the other side, the A's feature lefty Tommy Milone, who is off to a rough start but is coming off of his best outing of the season, where he tossed eight shutout innings against the Washington Nationals. He's fared quite well against the White Sox in two career starts (one in each of the past two season), going 1-0 with a 0.60 ERA (one earned run allowed).
Milone is a sinker-baller, meaning one would think he's the perfect pitcher for Oakland's home park, but he's surrendered 49 home runs combined in the last two seasons and 21 at home in his career. So swing away, I guess.
