Chris Sale is White Sox lone All-Star
/Duh.
Read MoreIt would be hard to cut down the optimism and good feelings of a four-game winning streak launched against two set in stone competitors like the Baltimore Orioles and the best in baseball St. Louis Cardinals, but the White Sox really took a crack at it Sunday in getting blown out 8-1 by the O's.

Also covered: Carson Fullmer signing, international signings, Chris Sale excellence, and Matt accuses James of saying things he never said and points to audio evidence that doesn't actually exist.
Read MoreAfter the White Sox beat the Cardinals 7-1 on Wednesday, I did as I often do and went to ESPN.com's MLB standings page to check out where certain teams stand in the run differential department.
Sure enough, the White Sox are still the second worst in baseball, although significantly #BetterThanThePhillies.
What I was surprised by is the fact that the Cardinals, who even after two straight defeats against the White Sox are 25 games over .500, no longer have the best run differential in baseball. That title now belongs to the 42-38 Toronto Blue Jays.
Read MoreOf all the getaway day games that are scheduled at unwatchable hours on Wednesday afternoons, this is the primetime matchup that had to pursued, and with the Sox not scheduled to return to St. Louis anytime soon and already planning a loaded second half of makeup dates, MLB was willing to sweat out something like, oh, a start delayed by two hours, two early stints that barely made it through entire half innings before new delays kicked off, and ending time well after midnight local time.

I don't know whether to be thrilled or bemused by a 2-1, 11-inning win in Cardtown. It's a victory over a great team via some phenomenal pitching dominance, but sprinkled in with enough ineptitude to make it clear how much of a struggle it will be to replicate this.
Read MoreThere has been a lot of buzz on social media and the White Sox blogosphere about whether or not Robin Ventura should be fired. It has certainly been discussed here. This week the Chicago Sun Times suggested that the White Sox not only fire Robin Ventura, but that they should replace him with Ozzie Guillen. NBC's Craig Calcaterra wrote his thoughts on the subject yesterday, although he primarily focused on the style of the article, and only briefly touched on the actual question of whether Ozzie should come back. Although Craig concludes that bringing Ozzie back would be a good idea, I have to disagree.
